- Starfish + Flowers = fun?
Have you ever wondered about the high contrast baby development toys that you see with the red, black and white designed for infant visual stimulation?. IVS toys for babies and newborn merchandise are advertised all over the internet as being important for child development. The idea is that babies see the contrasting shapes, their neurons are stimulated and more connections are formed in the brain. You can do it yourself and make your own homemade high contrast mobile.
The baby momma and I both think they look cool so we made some of our own cards to put on a mobile. Maybe they stimulate baby brains but they are cool to us too. Take a look at the patterns on them and see what you think.
These are the first side of these five high contrast cards showing some fun images to spark the imagination. We just put the cards on the scanner and scanned them all in as one blob:

The second side of the same five cards also have attention grabbing images for an infant, or anyone else, to look at. All together, when hung from the mobile, there are ten fun things for the baby to look at:

This is Bobo waking up from daddy messing with the camera as the mobile is hung from the Graco swing. This DYI high contrast mobile is made from some clothes hanger wire, a flattened pie pan, some alligator clips and the set of five hand drawn cards. You can easily make something like this yourself and have a lot of fun.

There are some pages out there that say that this kind of thing is good for infants since they can only see a short distance, 7 to 15 inches, when first born. New born babies also have trouble with color so the contrast in these images helps them to se shapes with better focus. Put it all together there where they can see it close up and your baby will grow up to be a super genius.
- Poor kitty
- Really goofy and distorted
- Reminds me of tempest arcade game.
- Roots forming a square.
- Some symmetry on blue ruled card.
